# Digitalization in Construction Leads to World Record

For a spectacular Audi Nines project, klarx provided excavators to build halfpipes – all in pursuit of a new world record

## World Record at the Audi Nines

**11.7 meters** above the ground – that's enough to make anyone dizzy, even with a safety railing. But to jump from that height on skis and land safely again – that seems impossible.

Yet it happened at the Audi Nines. The organizers built an enormous snowpark together with Schneestern. **Excavators from klarx**, the **online platform for renting construction machinery**, were used. This made it possible for two-time halfpipe Olympic champion David Wise (USA) to push beyond his limits. **The new world record stands!**

On the very first day of the Audi Nines, a week-long freestyle session for skiers and snowboarders in Sölden and Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, David Wise took advantage of optimal weather conditions and tested the limits of the **ten-meter-high quarterpipe**. "I felt great and jumped a little higher each time," Wise reported. "I never got scared. The advantage was that we had a measurement system on site, so we could immediately see how high we jumped." The conditions at the event were therefore optimal for the athletes and, in addition to the world record, enabled many other record-breaking jumps. This is why the athlete also had immediate **words of appreciation for everyone involved**.

## Construction Machinery from klarx in Action

**"This record is a team effort. I could never have done it alone"**. The biggest challenge was preparing the quarterpipe so that David felt absolutely comfortable on it to push his personal limits. To achieve this, **five** **snowcats** and **four** [excavators](/en/mieten/erdbewegungsmaschinen/bagger) were in operation around the clock for two weeks to move a total of 200,000 cubic meters of snow. The organizers made machine rental as simple as possible and therefore turned to klarx – the **digital platform for construction machinery rental**. The perfect interplay between human and machine played an essential role in achieving the world record.

## A Labor of Love for the klarx Founders

Nico Zacek, founder of the Audi Nines, expressed satisfaction with this partnership: "**We also brought klarx on board as a new partner, who made renting the machinery we needed a piece of cake with their digital platform**".

This project was also a **labor of love** for klarx co-founders Matthias and Florian Handschuh, themselves former professional snowboarders: "Our hearts still beat for this sport. It's just wonderful to see that klarx was able to contribute to this world record by providing construction machinery. We rent machines every day on demanding construction sites. The glacier in Sölden was a special logistical challenge for us, which we were very happy to solve for the Audi Nines".
