## We're developing a new approach to sustainability in the rental industry

As part of the circular economy, klarx helps drive sustainability across all 4 areas: production, energy consumption, logistics, and extended product lifecycles. This gives us the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of construction equipment by up to 54% ([Source](https://www.climateneutralgroup.com/en/news/research-report-carbon-footprint-of-construction-equipment/)).

Across the four pillars of the circular economy in the rental industry, klarx supports sustainability through:

- Increased utilization of construction equipment and reduced raw material tied up in inventory
- Lower energy consumption through modern construction machines
- Reduced fuel consumption via our regional procurement strategy
- Shortened transport distances to less than 50km, significantly cutting logistics costs and CO² emissions
- Reduced carbon consumption through proper recycling of construction equipment in our fleet

The [solar industry](/en/industries/solar-construction-photovoltaic) is one of our focus industries where we have extensive experience and have already supported many customers, from medium-sized to large companies, in the construction of solar and photovoltaic systems. Thanks to our flexible fleet and our machinery range of more than 530,000 construction machines, we always have the right equipment on hand and can support solar builders with our expertise on their construction projects.

Thanks to modern machinery and short transport distances, we promote sustainable construction of solar projects.

One of our solar customers is rnp Solar GmbH, which was able to make its procurement processes more efficient with klarx and can now rent the required machinery 24/7 thanks to our software, the klarxMANAGER.

## Fluid Fleet

With the Fluid Fleet, our machines are stationed in partner depots throughout Germany, close to construction sites. Short transport distances reduce transport costs and CO₂ emissions.

In collaboration with the Zeppelin Oil Lab, klarx was able to test the hydraulic oil of 65 machines this year. This saved 5,028 liters of hydraulic oil and further reduced environmental damage. Following the success of these tests, additional types of oil tests for several machines in our Fluid Fleet are already being planned.
