OEMs – Original Equipment Manufacturers

OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) are producers of goods manufactured in their own factories but not sold directly by them. The term is used in the automotive, technology, and electronics industries.

In the construction industry, OEMs manufacture special products or components that construction companies or other manufacturers then integrate into larger construction projects. OEMs exist in the construction industry for construction machine manufacturers, building component manufacturers, building material producers, building systems technology, facade and insulation systems, as well as elevators and escalators.

Examples of construction machine manufacturers:

• Caterpillar: A global leader in manufacturing construction equipment such as excavators, dozers and wheel loaders. These machines are used by construction companies worldwide. Caterpillar is a klarx partner.
• Komatsu: A Japanese manufacturer of construction, mining and forestry equipment and a klarx partner.
• Volvo Construction Equipment: Manufactures construction equipment such as excavators, loaders and dump trucks used on construction sites.

2. Building component manufacturers

• Knauf: Produces building and insulation materials such as drywall, commonly used in building construction.
• Velux: Produces roof windows and lighting solutions integrated into various construction projects, particularly in residential buildings.
• Schüco: Manufactures window, door and facade systems used in modern buildings worldwide.

3. Building material manufacturers

• Holcim: A global leader in manufacturing cement, concrete and other building materials used in various construction projects.
• HeidelbergCement: Produces cement, concrete and other building materials and supplies them to construction sites worldwide.

4. Building systems technology manufacturers

• Siemens Building Technologies: Manufactures heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as building automation systems integrated into large construction projects such as office buildings or factories.
• Bosch Thermotechnik: Produces heating and hot water solutions installed in residential and commercial properties.

5. Facade and insulation system manufacturers

• Sto SE & Co. KGaA: Produces facade systems, thermal insulation composite systems and plasters used in the construction industry for building insulation and design.
• Rockwool: Manufactures mineral wool insulation used for fire protection, sound insulation and thermal insulation in construction projects.

6. Elevator and escalator manufacturers

• Otis: Manufactures elevators, escalators and moving walkways installed in high-rise buildings, shopping centers and other structures.
• KONE: Another global provider of elevators and escalators that works closely with construction companies.
