Seven days at bauma – seven days packed with great conversations, new innovations, and exciting personalities on site. Here's what we showed at our booth at bauma 2022 and the highlights we're taking away – a bauma recap
From October 24 to 30, 2022, Munich hosted the world's largest construction trade fair – and we were right in the middle of it! True to our trade fair motto "klarx - in between spaces," we gave visitors from around the world a glimpse into the future of construction equipment rental through our curated art walk.
Using shipping containers, we created an art gallery in our brand CI that highlighted the klarx vision, our software solutions, and the topic of "sustainable renting." We returned the shipping containers directly after bauma through rental or sale back into the economic cycle – nothing was wasted afterward. We also deliberately used sustainable and recyclable materials to act as a pioneer and role model in the construction industry.
Another highlight at bauma was our klarxGREEN Container, where we showed drone footage of PV systems from our customers. "Thanks to our partner network of over 5,100 locations, we can ensure that transport kilometers always stay under 60 kilometers. This saves us emissions and allows the customer to start their project on a sustainable basis from the beginning," said Florian Handschuh, co-founder of klarx.
The artwork "Re-Vision 20.4.2022" by Yul Zeser, which was on display at our booth, also showed how important it is these days to rethink things and take a different, especially sustainable path.
Since the 1960s, goods have always had to fit into DIN-standardized containers to be transported from A to B. We turned the tables and adapted the container to the goods themselves – in this case, a scissor lift. "That's how it's always been done" doesn't apply to us.
In "Re-Vision 20.4," Yul Zeser illustrates the processes of standardization and generalization that have become fundamental to modern logistics. A globalized economy would be unthinkable without the ISO container. Nowadays, around 90% of containerized general cargo shipped worldwide is transported by container.

The container in "Re-Vision 20.4" no longer fulfills its function, however, because it has been narrowed by 4 feet (1.22 m). Only goods adapted to this special container can be transported here, and the universal fit for standardized shipping containers has become obsolete. By destroying the standardized units, we see how strongly we have already become accustomed to the form of an ISO container.
Also, artist Yul Zeser, similar to his 2020 work "Der Lichte Raum" at the Propyläen in Munich, installs a light box instead of the container's floor, so it is illuminated from the inside. A scissor lift can be rented directly from our logistics center in Munich – of course with guaranteed availability.
Due to current crises, ISO containers have become many times more expensive, which is why entire industries can no longer transport their goods. Within globalized economies, there is a clear dependence on access to containers, which is currently only guaranteed for large international companies. Yul Zeser's modified container manifests that goods should no longer adapt to containers, but rather containers should be tailored to the respective goods.
With our software solutions, we digitalize rental and procurement processes in construction and have convinced countless customers and companies – we showed how simple it is via demo shows in the klarx TECH Container. With just a few clicks, construction equipment can be rented quickly and easily with the klarxMANAGER. Site managers, procurement staff, and project managers can keep track of their equipment and construction projects at any time – for enormous time savings and seamless communication.
